A Vital Spice: Cinnamon Oil

Cinnamon is a great fighter against bad breath, helps teeth and gums, and other dental diseases. It is very helpful for blood circulation, to decrease cholesterol and for controlling blood sugar in diabetes.

Introduction and History of Cinnamon

Cinnamon bark essential oil (EO), from the Cinnamomum verum plant, of which there are 300 varieties, first grown in South Asia, but now plants are grown around the world.

This bark was highly valued by ancient Egyptians, and used in Chinese and Indian medicine. The two most used are Ceylon cinnamon, considered True cinnamon, and Chinese cinnamon.

The ancients believed this spice was prized like gold, for its protection and prosperity.

Cinnamon oil is a highly concentrated and potent, very strong odor, you need very little to receive benefits.

Cinnamon can be found in many forms, tea, extract, herb powder and oils. The oil has more benefits and antioxidants than the spice powder form.

Its compounds are cinnamaldehyde, eugenol, and linalool. It is a strong antiviral, antifungal and antibacterial compound. In fact, it had been used in the 1500’s to fight the plague, so it is a great virus fighter!
