Caring for Your Beard

Caring for Your Beard

Now you started growing that beard so let’s talk about how to care for beard hair! There are some tricks to keeping your facial hair healthy and “looking fantastic”.

Thickness of your hair has a lot to do with genetics…some may not be able to grow enough hair to make a full beard.

A beard that looks full of life means it is well cared for and that makes it very attractive.

The hair on your face can be somewhat different than the hair on your head. The best time to start ‘shaping your new beard’ is when it’s about 1-1.5 inches.

Healthy Beard Care Tips

  1. To have a fantastic looking beard, keep it clean and conditioned. Special conditioners, like Beard oils soften beard hair and helps tame those “wild whiskers”.
  2. Brush with a Boars Head Bristle brush and Combing it keeps it smooth and tangle free. Run the comb in the direction of hair growth.
  3. Keeping it trimmed by investing in the right tools to keep your beard looking like that “Oh, so sexy” look! Or have a professional help with a specific design.

Proper Beard Oil

Great beard oil contains a blend of carrier oils like argan, jojoba, coconut, and hemp, which helps unruly beards look good all day. They are excellent moisturizers and nourishing conditioners. They include the benefits of vitamin E and good Omega Fatty acids.

The best beard oil products have added Essential oils (EO) as a complimentary benefit.

EO’s in your beard oil is not just a fancy foo-foo, these oils are natural antiseptics and will do a really good job at cleaning your skin pores and reducing the occurrence of acne.

Many companies use sandalwood, tea tree, and lavender essential oils.

Apply beard oil daily, best after a shower, while hair is still damp but water toweled off since the oil will absorb more efficiently. You only need 3-4 drops for a small beard and a few more drops for a larger beard.

Massage oils with the palm of your hand into your skin and beard.

These oils will also stop the itchy feeling and even the ‘beardruff’ (dandruff) due to dryness of hair follicles. It can prevent less breakage or split ends.

Use of the Right Tools

Bristle Bush made with Boars' hair is recommended. It is good for training hair to grow in the direction wanted and perfect for ridding the beard of dust and grime.

Brushing it stimulates circulation and it distributes natural skin oils. It also helps soften facial hair and adds volume.

Combs should have one side with wider, rounded teeth for beard comfort. The side with more narrow teeth is for the mustache.

Combing daily after brushing smooths your hair back down into the desired shape.

Scissors and specially designed razors or trimmers are also available to trim and shape your beards.

These routines will take a little while to become a habit but your time spent will decrease and your beard will be strong, healthy and full of life.
