Frankincense Essential Oil: A Secret of the Ancients

Frankincense Essential Oil: A Secret of the Ancients

Ever since the Birth of Christ, the Wise men knew the power of Frankincense oil from the plant Boswellia carterii or Boswellia sacara from Somalia. It has been associated with many different religions, especially the Christian religion.

This tree grows in very arid, hot and desolate conditions. They use the leaves, stems and roots to make its essential oil.

There are so many great ways to use Essential oils. (EO)

 Frankincense has many uses:

  1. Use as an antibacterial and anti- viral
  2. Stress relief and controlling negative emotions
  3. Calm anxiety
  4. Eases pain and inflammation
  5. Helps with acne, wrinkles and other anti- aging skin issues
  6. Natural household cleaner and deodorizer

 How to Use Frankincense Oil

First make sure it is 100% Frankincense, not a perfume or fragrance oil. These can be synthetic and not have the same health benefits.

Inhale the oil, or use in a diffuser or vaporizer.

Absorb the oil into the skin; mix the oil with a base oil like jojoba or coconut oil. For example, 4-5 drops of Frankincense with ¼ Tablespoon of liquid coconut oil. Spread this mix over skin lightly, it will take a few minutes to absorb.

You can also use this in the tub to help you relax.

Massage oil for pain, you can add to other massage oils or steam water, add several drops of oil to water, soak a towel in this water and oil mix. Then wring out towel and place on painful areas like a compress.

As a cleaner you can add a few drops of EO to distilled or filtered water and shake well to mix.  Spray the area to clean or wipe down.

There are some who believe you can ingest Frankincense oil.  Add a drop to a glass of water or to a teaspoon of honey. It can also help with digestive issues.

Recently, there have been studies on how this oil responds to cancer cells.  It kills the cancer cells and leaves good cells to function better.

Frankincense oil is safe to use. There have only been skin rashes reported, otherwise no other negative reactions.  You can check a small patch of skin before general use to make sure you are not allergic.
